WHSDM-Service 1.0.1

There are two new extensions for the WHS-Download Manager available.
The WHSDM Webservice extension. It extends your Windows Home Server
with a Webservice, that you can operate from your browser or another application.
The URL is http://yourservername/whsdmservice/DownloadPool.asmx
The Webservice awaits a String with semicolon separated URLs. After the filehoster check, the
URLs are added to the Download Pool.

Firefox Add-on

The first Appllication that uses this Webservice is a Firefox Add-on from Daniel Siegers.
After the installation you must configure the Add-on.
Start the Firefox Add-on, select the WHS Download Manager Client Add-on
and edit the name of your Home Server under 'Settings' in the URL http://yourservername/whsdmservice/DownloadPool.asmx

Now you can download the file(s) to your harddisk or send the URL to the Home Server.
Note: If you use a filehoster with a premium account, please deposit Username and Password on the Server.

Please install the WHS-Download Manager and the WHS-Service from your Windows Home Server
Remote Console (Settings-Add-Ins). The Firefox Addon must be installed from the Firefox Browser.
You must enable the Remote Access under Windows Home Server 'Settings' to activate the Webservice.

Note: The WHS-Download Manager 3.2.3 is also available!

Ich habe Probleme mit dem Add-In. Es macht was es will. Nach einem Ruhezustand lädt er die bereits begonnen Dateien nicht weiter. Ich habe keine Ahnung, was los ist. Gibt es bekannte Probleme?

Ich hab auch massive Probleme, ich kann keine Hoster hinzufügen. Sobald ich einen Account hinzufügen will schießt er mir direkt die Konsole ab

Okay habe das Problem gelöst, WHSDM gelöscht, per Remote auf den Server, den Ordner vom alten WHSDM unter Program Files entfernt (da lag noch irgend ein File drin), das addin neu installiert und jetzt läufts.

(hatte vorher eine 3.1.x version installiert)

Wie kann ich überhaupt begonnene Dateien fortsetzen? Wie kann ich mehrere Dateien gleichzeitig runterladen? Bei mir lädt er immer nur eine Datei...

versuche mal die angefangenen Dateien neu zu starten.. markieren/rechte Maustaste --> restart

Ja, dann werden die Dateien neu gestartet. Aber ist das der Sinn von einem Downloadmanager? Wenn ich knapp 2GB runergeladen habe und damit ca. 98% einer Datei dann noch mal von vorne?

Unter Task kannst du einstellen wieviele er parallel runterladen soll.
In der nächsten Version kann man Downloads fortsetzten. Das geht momentan nur bei SaveTV...

Selbst wenn ich mehr unter Task eingebe lädt das Programm nur eine Datei?
Wenn das mit dem Fortsetzen erst in der nächsten Version geht, dann muss ich noch auf die nächste Version warten. Ich finde nämlich die Idee an sich hervorragend den Home Server zum Download von solch großen Dateien zu benutzen.

Good work on V3.2.2. The download speed is good. I guess you have implemented the multi-link download feature in WHSDM.

While the download speed is good but I noticed every few download completes (around 10-15 files), WHSDM will stop downloading the remaining list of downloads. I have to select the stop link and issue retry before it will continue to download. I'm not sure if this is a bug and I hope you can help out.

About the Firefox add-in, I'm having trouble using it. After I added it into my Firefox and amending the link to point to my WHS, what next?

When I right click on the link, the menu didn't show anything related to WHSDM. Please help.

Thanks for the Info. If the WHSDM stops downloading, what kind of Filehoster you use?
Maybe you can send me your eventLog File if that happens?

Hi,

I'm using Rapidshare premium here. No every 5-10 files, I have to reboot the server before WHSDM will start new downloads.

Which eventlog file you need? Please let me know your email.

I have sent you my eventlog for Applications and WHSDM. Please help. Now, whenever the download stop, I have to restart my WHS to have it resume. I notice something weird too. When files are downloaded through WHSDM to my server, when the percentage hit 100%, suddenly it will become back to 0% and the whole add-in will stop working. But when I look at the download folder, the files are completely there. Means it finish download but don't know why in WHSDM, it revert back to 0%. When this happened, I have to deselect it from the list, delete it, and reboot the server. Once reboot, I enable back rest of the files and the download resumes.

Hi, have the same problème with firefox plugin.
I have installed and configured the plugin without error, but anything is visible into right click menu.

installed on two computers, work only with one (all have lastes version and in french version)

nb: a basic web interface can be cool and fastest to do.

Hi !

This Interface(Add-on) not work with the right click menu.
It works, if you choose to download the file and then you have to select the Download Path.
There is a option to Download it to your Harddisk or send it to the Home Server.
You must get the Download Dialog like this...

Tolles Add-In - wäre schön, wenn noch einige Hoster (wie das populäre Netload) den Weg ins Interface finden würden.

Wenn Du netload.in meinst, das ist seit der Version 3.2.1 dabei.
Auf Wunsch werden noch andere Filehoster folgen...

Hi, this would be a hugely helpful add-in for me, unfortunately it does not seem to be very reliable in my case.

I select a file in forefox, send it to the WHS console and get a confirmation that it has been successfully sent to download manager. When I then check the WHS console the file is not on the download list. Interestingly enough, I just noticed that I file I marked for download yesterday afternoon just appeared in the list this morning (wasn't there at midnight).

I also have trouble actually starting the download, even if add the file through the WHS console and do "download now" the file briefly changes font color but goes back to normal font on the next refresh and the status remains "added". Some of the files i tested downloaded just fine (all from the same source - free http) so it seems to be just the scheduler misbehaving.

I have tried uninstalling both the DM (3.2.2) and the webservice (1.0.1) but nothing unfortunately helped.

Hello Martin,

if you send a URL from Firefox and get the confirmation, you must click on the Refresh Button (Console) to see the new URL in the Download Pool. The Service in the Background search every minute for new URL´s and put them automatically to the Download Pool but it not Refresh your list...

The Download now button change the time and the Status of the selected URL to "added" and date-now.
In the next flow the Download should start...

Hallo Christof,

yep, did all that, refreshed every single time i checked the console or after adding the file via the FF plugin but even when it eventually shows up (definitely later than after a minute, if ever) it's still stuck at "added" and won't start downloading. Is there a log somewhere I can check for errors or status messages? The log window in Console is empty.

Hallo Christof.
Nach einigen Versuchen funktioniert der Manager jetzt auch bei mir. Tolles Tool.
War wohl zu ungedultig, bis er mit save.tv Kontakt aufgenommen hatte.
Habe dazu nochmal eine Frage. Wäre es möglich die *.info Dateien auch mit vom save.tv-Server zu laden, weil ich die benötige um mit dem Programm "Cutbutler" von der seite www.werbefrei.tv die Werbung rauszuschneiden?

Ah du sprichst auch deutsch dann ignorier bitte meinen Post bei Homeserver Plus ;)

Ich will Files über Rapidshare mit Premium Acc runterladen. Die links werden hinzugefügt, bleiben aber im Status immer nur auf Added retry pause und download now nützen nix .

I've been moving house and had version 3.0 on my server, however i'm trying to upgrade to 3.2.2 however WHS wount let me uninstall 3.0 and whenever i try to install 3.2.2 on top of it i get the message error 1001: the specified service already exists. I've tryed to install 3.1a however this give the same message and now i cannot get 3.0 to work either.

Tha nks for this add in. Could you add support for scheduled downloads from the firefox addin? I can only schedule an immediate download from firefox.
