Hey Nardu,

thank you for your interrest!
Do you need more information on the Windows Home Server in general, or about the WHS Download Manager?
If it's the Windows Home Server we recommend the following links:

www.microsoft.com/.../default.mspx

http://blogs.technet.com/homeserver/default.aspx

http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/

http://mswhs.com/

If it's the WHS Download Manager you want to get more information about - Christof (the author of WHSDM) is currently working on a detailed 'User's Manual'. Until completion and publication feel free to ask anything that's on your mind. We are glad to be of assistance Smile

Hi Emilio,

currently files aren't extracted automatically. An implementation of this feature is planned for future releases. Please keep visiting this blog to stay up to date on the WHS Download Manager.

Is there a guide or some instructions on how to make this work? Right now I’m finding this slow, clunky, and unresponsive, oh yeah it doesn’t download any files either.

Hi!

I need more Information what exactly not work.
Did you try the Download Manager with Free or Premium Rapidshare Account!?
And a 'example' URL would help to find a solution.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for really great plug-in.
The only problem I'm experiencing is after installation and reboot of the WHS i'm getting "At least one service couldn't be started."
Then I can see in the event viewer that the problem was realted to the "My New Service". It happens only with Download Manager installed. Please advise...

Hi Marczyn,

i know this Bug.If you try to login, the Windows Home Server Console starts
the Download Manager and the WhsDown Service. Sometimes this fails.
In the next Release, the Whsdown Service starts in the Setup Routine.
But thanks for the Info! What is your WHS Configuration(CPU,RAM) ?

Hi Chris,

Does the Download Manager works on Multi-link download just like Orbit or Flashget?

Hi CapzFelix!

What do you mean with Multi-link download?

christof Germany

12/15/2009 5:05:25 PM #

CapzFelix

It's something like MHT (Multi-server Hyper-threading Transportation). As you know, for Premium RS user, file is able to be downloaded in separate block simultaneously rather than sequentially. This make full use of bandwidth allocation, resulting maximum transfer speed that the link is capable of.

Maybe you mean this?

CapzFelix

Quite similar, it's just that for my version, rather than 10 different files download at the same time, it's 10 smaller part of the same file being downloaded concurrently. But I'm glad you have includes multi-file download features.

Any chance to include the feature I mentioned above in your next updates?

Does Download Manager 3.1a allow downloading from any Web-Site or only from rapidshare?

Christof: Congrats on the app, it's magnificent. Thanks for the effort of making it!

I wanted to ask a question if you don't mind:
Is there a way to queue downloads to start at a certain time, like that I queue them now but have them start in a few hours?
It could perfectly well be that it's in there, and that I have overlooked it. In that case my advanced apoligies Wink

And another, maybe irrelevant suggestion: a 'Go to download folder' button would be nice perhaps?

Cheers and thanks again!

The next version allows you to download from other Websites.
The Version 3.1a is only for Rapidshare

hi Dieter !

'go to Download Folder' Button is a good Idea.
What do you mean with: 'to queue downloads to start at a certain time' ?
In the Version 3.1a you can set the Download start time !?

Hi Chris,

Recently my WHS is getting log full on WHSDMLog frequently. When I open the event properties, notice it's due to the DownloadLink.xml. I'm sure this is related to Download Manager. Any idea what's going on wrong here?

To bad I have deleted it. But I notice the log file will appear whenever I used DM to download stuff. At the moment, I have removed DM from my WHS, awaiting your new updates.

I had the service started and stopped message when trying to start the service.  My problem was the whsdown service would just disappear and and never restart.  I finally checked the system logs and found that the log for whsdown was full.  As soon as I cleared that log I was able to restart the service.

I went into the properties section of the WHSDMLog and changed "Over write events older than 7 Days" to "Overwrite as needed" to prevent the log getting full in the future.

Hi,
Love what I'm seeing so far but a quick question.
Which release will allow downloading from other sites besides Rapidshare?  For example from a web based (http) news/binaries group???  This would be perfect if you weren't limited to rapidshare etc.

Andrew Rawlinson

Hi, looks like a great add-on but seem to be having problems, i upgraded to the newest version from the last version, (uninstalled, installed new one).
I hadent got the older version working, it seemed to show the downloads and not actualy download anything, after playing around with it one download showed 100mb out of 200 mb had downloaded.
After the upgrade, the same downloads apeard but still wont download.
Also in the options menu where you enter user details for rapidshare when you click save the console crashed, closes and when you open the console again and go to options the settings haventd changed.
Does any one know why the downloads dont actualy download and or where every single file is located for download manager so i can manualy remove exerything and perhaps start again.

Please try this:

Uninstall this Version
Go to the Folder  (Windows Home Server): / Remote Desktop / D:\folders\{A97D6FAB-0F26-493A-BBB9-D166FB057789}
Delete Download.xml and Provider.xml File
Then install the new Download Manager 3.2 again.

I changed the unistall procedure in the next Version to clean the Provider.xml and Download.xml File.

Please give me a Feddback if this Solution work!
